A flyer in Mérida in response to President George W. Bush’s visit to México to meet with President Calderón. Bush visited Yucatán and Puebla. During his visit to Mérida, traffic paths were blocked and the city became unusually slow. The Fiesta Americana Hotel had installed metal detectors. I was not in Mérida but we did get stopped by the Federales when we were approaching Uxmal. It was a treat for the UF students to be stopped I think. We visited Uxmal the day before the presidents visited. It is a beautiful site. There are continuing protests in Mérida for those arrested during the protests mentioned on this flyer. I also have to mention that, in my experience, this is a very passive state. Now, I live in Florida, so who am I to point fingers?
