This book articulates the connections between the multiple (visual, conceptual, political, social, cultural, and economic) aspects that function in one contemporary setting (Yucatán, México) in both a book and an exhibition with content that includes analytical, poetic, narrative, and factual writing, photographs (of people, places, activities, and artifacts), transcriptions of interviews, visual projects, video, and sound. Together, these materials provide a complex and reflexive, view of this cosmopolitan, globalized region of México—one in which tourism is the primary industry and whose identity is projected locally and globally.
