enanitos bullfighting with baby toro. (photo: alison brovold)

Last week I was in Cuahtemoc, Quintana Roo visiting with friends and new clients. As part of the town’s anniversary celebration, they had a corrida (“rodeo”) before the carnival rides.  This rodeo was, in its totality, a comedy show of sorts featuring dwarf bullfighters who fought increasingly older bulls, but never quite making it to the “dangerous” level. It was mostly running on the bullfighters part. In fact, this torito had to be practically dragged to its feet – my guess it was about 6 months old and just wanted to sleep off the hot afternoon.
