¡New! MFA in Design at UF (2019)

Our new MFA in Design at the University of Florida is set to launch in fall 2019. It is based on my d4d work (with Gaby Hernández)and expands and creates new models to solve real-world problems facing a wide range of clients, partners, and communities in Florida and beyond. The program will reflect and contribute to DVC’s emerging identity as a field informed by theories and methods from a variety of disciplines in the visual arts, humanities, and social sciences.
Ak Kuxtal – D4D

d4d lab

The D4D initiative focuses on how we might learn from indigenous entrepreneurs to think differently, and more expansively, about design. My current focus is on Design for Decolonization, although in a previous incarnation D4D was Design for Development.

Mira = Look

This is the Mira Project, in which I explore the visual representation of Mexican-ness through creative work and writing. You will find some of my work in the writing section. I have also published and exhibited book arts, posters, and collections of icons.

Design has changed. Designers, not quite.

It has become clear to (almost) everyone by now that the word design does not simply fit into the “beautification of objects” slot any longer. Read the article on ICOGRADA’s site.
