Since CS3 there has been a script to help you make grids in InDesign, which are useful for print and screen. Since pretty much almost everything we do requires or benefits from a grid, it’s nice to be able to use this script to set up master guides and to work quickly. Here’s a link that explains it in more detail, by one of the script’s authors, David Blatner. I’ve seen some other articles online by Blatner but here’s a link to the one on indesignsecrets.com,“Transform a Frame Into a Grid of Frames” from 2008. Wow. So old school but still relevant. Today you can find the script under the Utilities menu. Blatner references his script in the “20 Free Must-Have Scripts for InDesign Users,” a free article on creativepro.com.
